Tocal Field Days is a great day out for students and teachers seeking an inspiring mix of educational activities.
We encourage schools to lock Friday 1 May in for a visit to the Field Days. To ensure your group has an informative and enjoyable visit we offer:
- a workshop program: in 2008 workshops aimed at primary aged students ran throughout the day.
- exhibitors presenting school-specific displays and/or talks. In 2008 this included:
- the Department of Primary Industries Weed Warriors program
- the Australian Museum activities
- make your own mini-worm farm in the Land Management area
- tips on handling horses and pat the baby animals in the Livestock area
- the Croc Show (see the What's On program)
- enter the 'Name the Dairy Heifer competition' at the Livestock Arena
- how to farm yabbies in the Commercial area
- the Seven Simple Ways to Save Water theatre performance (check the What's On program), and
- fun science activities in the Children's Park (available Saturday and Sunday only),
- book your school group in and receive a customised program
- a schools-only meeting area close to the action, with shade cover, seating and access to toilets; a great spot to meet through the day
- free parking
- free entry for coach drivers and accompanying teachers
- coach drop off close to entry gates
- this website with access to the site map, What's On program and product / exhibitor listing (updated regularly)
- venue risk assessment and safety check for school excursions approval.
