2009 Highlights
A strong sense of optimism and renewal marked the 26th event, with new flags flying, business buzzing and many exhibitors reporting their best days of trading for many years. Lots of money changed hands with big ticket items such as tractors and crushers, as well as cash and carry items leaving the site. There was no evidence of an economic downturn.
Top dollars were bid for Tocal's Brangus heifers at the inaugural livestock auction, the College's bookshop sales were double that of last year and many traders had sold their stock before Sunday afternoon.
Committee members were delighted when many described the show as "the friendliest event ever", and with numbers topping 28,000 - up from 27,000 last year.
Demonstrations and talks on hay fires, snail farming, keeping backyard poultry, cattle and sheep handling using dogs, and fencing construction were highlights, along with miniature piglet races and the 'Images of Tocal' art exhibition.
